Hello Fellow Collector/Student My interest in antique weaponry started from a very early age when my father, who was stationed in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) during the Second World War returned with a host of items, which included spears, shields and swords etc., These items adorned a garden shed which became my Aladdin’s cave and future den. My father also brought back some firearms but these he had disposed of before I was born in 1953. My formative years found me dressed for battle and I have fond memories of my pals and I recreating Cowboy and Indian encounters and later, with additional regular trips to the local Army Surplus Store, we managed to relive “D” Day and the fall of the “Odious” Nazi Regime on wasteland that skirted the Great Western Railway in Maidenhead, the town in which I was born. Unfortunately, we all have to grow up; and after getting married, bringing up two fantastic children, getting divorced, travelling up and down the country earning a living in Technical Sales and finally running a hotel in sunny Scarborough, I decided to turn a life times hobby into a business, this I achieved in 2004. I have a general affinity with all aspects of the antique world but I seem to be attracted to anything to do with the hunting, shooting and fishing fraternity. My specialist area of interest is the gunmakers of Ireland on which I have written extensively over the last twenty years for various publications. We attend the major Antique Arms Fairs throughout the U.K and a number of Game Fairs,where we are always pleased to see our customers to discuss their future requirements. Ramrod Antiques also attend the major auctions and are pleased to buy on commission. We are also pleased to sell on commission via our website. We do not consider ourselves “experts” on any subject and it worries us in this business when we meet one!! Prices continue to rise on quality items and we like to feel that we offer a fair deal in an ever complex market place.
